LOCATION: Brisbane

TYPE OF PROJECT: Infrastructure

YEAR(S): 2014 – 2015

CLIENT: Transcity

CONSTRUCTION VALUE: $1.5B

Legacy Way is a 4.6km underground toll road that will link the Western Freeway with the Inner City Bypass (ICB) at Kelvin Grove.

This project involves two bored tunnels carrying two motorway grade lanes of traffic in each direction. Cogent Scaffolding’s team is an integral part of the construction of the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM’s).

The TBM’s that will be used to construct Legacy Way have 12.4m circular rotating cutter heads to bore a consistent profile through the rock. Cogent’s role in constructing this TBM is to ensure that each of the thousands of necessary parts required can be fitted safety and efficiently.

Cogent Scaffolding also erects and dismantles various access and egress to the entire site where required.

A continuing amount of false work is also required for the construction of the bridges which act as entry’s and exits for the tunnels.
